Radnor, Pa. – Keystone College and Cabrini University split a Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday in Radnor with the Cavaliers claiming a tight, 3-2 victory in game one before the Giants rebounded for a 13-3 win in the nightcap. Keystone is now 8-6 overall this spring and 2-1 in the CSAC while the Cavaliers sit at 7-6 on the year and 1-2 in league play.
Game 1
Keystone took a 1-0 lead in their first at-bats of Saturday's opener with
Anthony Ferrezza (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) scoring on an RBI groundout by
Brendan Long (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier), but Cabrini went ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run single.
The Cavaliers added an important insurance run in the home third on a solo home run off the bat of Dylan Butler.
The Giants got a run back in the top of the fourth inning when
Billy Nelson (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) came home as
Tony Hunter II (Savannah, Ga./South Effingham) grounded into a double play, but that would mark the last of the scoring as the Cabrini held on for the one-run victory.
Cabrini starting pitcher Ryan Givens went three innings, allowing a pair of runs on four hits and five while striking out three batters before handing the ball off to Andrew Del Giudice, who pitched four scoreless innings with three hits and two walks against while picking up one K.
Dylan Leahy (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) suffered the loss for Keystone after yielding two runs on three hits and three walks in two innings of work.
Dan Maguire (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township) yielded one run on two hits while fanning two batters in 2.1 innings before handing the ball off the
Gerry Gonzalez (Manhattan, N.Y./Progress), who retired all five batters he faced with two strikeouts.
Bray Curreri (Eldred, N.Y./Eldred Central) was the only player for either club with multiple hits in the game, collecting a pair of singles for the Giants, who outhit the Cavaliers 7-5 in the loss.
Game 2
In Saturday's nightcap, Keystone opened the scoring in the top of the first inning as Ferrezza stole third and came home on error before Cabrini tied the contest in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI double.
Keystone broke the game open in the visitor's fourth, scoring six runs on five hits, one walk, and one error to open up a 7-1 advantage. Curreri scored on an error before
Ty Christian (Williamstown, N.Y./Altmar-Parish-Williamstown) and
Austin Chaszar (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) connected on RBI doubles. Nelson followed with an RBI base hit before
Brady Barr (Bowie, Md./Bowie) delivered a two-run home run, his team-leading fourth of the year, to give the Giants a six-run advantage.
Keystone added a run the following inning as Curreri came home on an error on a ball hit by
Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) before the visitors plated four more runs in the top of the sixth inning to open up a 12-1 lead.
The Cavaliers plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before the Giants capped the scoring in the visitor's seventh on an RBI base hit from Panzarella.
Tyler Widitz (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) picked up the win for Keystone after allowing one run on five hits while striking out three batters in four innings of work.
Yeison Andujar (San Juan, P.R./Programa Educativo Alcance) surrendered two runs on one hit and three walks while fanning three batters in 1.2 innings on the hill before
Steven Moran (Yonkers, N.Y./Riverside) closed out the game, striking out two batters while yielding one hit and two walks.
Nelson led the Giants with three hits while Panzarella had a team-best three RBI in the game two win. Chaszar, Curreri, and Panzarella added two hits apiece as Keystone outhit Cabrini 15-7 in the nightcap.
Jake Dohar suffered the loss for the Cavaliers after allowing five runs on four hits and three walks while picking up a pair of K's in 3.2 innings of work. Cabrini used six arms out of the bullpen to close out the game.
Butler and Tyler Norris had two hits apiece to pace the hosts in the game two setback.

Keystone will return to action on Wednesday afternoon with a non-conference game at Susquehanna University. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
