Keystone Posts 6-0 Shutout Win at Rutgers-Camden

Nelson and Meagher hold Scarlet Raptors to just four hits in non-conference win

Camden, N.J. – Billy Nelson (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) and Pat Meagher (Wall Township, N.J./Wall) held Rutgers-Camden to just four singles on Tuesday afternoon as Keystone College posted a 6-0 victory in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday.  The Giants lift their record to 19-8 overall with their sixth win in a row while dropping the Scarlet Raptors to 10-18 on the spring.

Keystone opened the scoring in the top of the second inning of Tuesday's tilt when Bray Curreri (Eldred, N.Y./Eldred Central) scored on a passed ball and the Giants extended their lead to 3-0 the following inning as Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) connected on a two-run single.

The visitors pushed their lead to five runs in the top of the seventh inning as Tony Hunter II (Savannah, Ga./South Effingham) came home on an error by Rutgers-Camden on a ball hit by Brendan Long (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) before Anthony Ferrezza (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) scored when Brady Barr (Bowie, Md./Bowie) reached on a fielder's choice to give Keystone a 5-0 cushion.

The Giants capped the scoring in the eighth inning when Curreri scored on an RBI double from Austin Chaszar (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional)

Nelson earned the win to improve to 4-1 on the mound after tossing six scoreless innings, striking out five batters while scattering three singles and walking one.  Meagher pitched three quality innings to close out the game and pick up his second save of the year, allowing one hit and one walk while picking up one K.

Hunter had a pair of hits to lead the Giants, who held a 6-4 edge in hits for the contest.

Jaylen Paula suffered the loss for Rutgers-Camden after allowing three runs on three hits in three innings of work before the Scarlet Raptors turned to four arms out of the bullpen to get through the final six frames.

John Tedeschi had a pair of hits to lead the hosts, who committed four errors in the contest to none for the Giants.

Keystone hits the road again on Wednesday for a non-conference tilt at Widener University.  First pitch between the Giants and Pride is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Chester, Pennsylvania.
