Allentown, Pa. - Keystone College got back into the win column on Thursday night, snapping a brief, two-match losing skid with a four-set victory at Cedar Crest College in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball action. The Giants improve to 4-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play while dropping the Falcons to 6-2 (0-1 CSAC) this fall.
Keystone claimed a 2-0 lead by winning Thursday's first two sets by identical 25-19 scores, but Cedar Crest got back into the match with a 25-19 decision of its own in the third set. The Giants closed out the match by controlling the fourth game, ultimately winning the set 25-14.
Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) and
Nicole Frascati (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) tied for a match-high with 13 kills apiece while
Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) put down eight kills for Keystone.
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) led all players with 41 assists and picked up 11 digs for a double-double while
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) paced the Giants with 19 digs in the win.
Hardy and
Nicki Yeager (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) had three aces apiece for the visitors on the night while Hardy also contributed a pair of blocks for Keystone, who hit .114 as a team in the contest.
Nicole Hill led Cedar Crest with 11 kills, Steph Barr put up 15 assists, and Tiffany Hoppes picked up a match-high 23 digs for the Falcons, who hit .079 as a team in the loss.
Keystone returns to the court on Saturday with a pair of non-conference matches at the University of Scranton. The Giants will take on the host Royals at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 1:30 p.m. tilt against Mount Saint Vincent.
