Bain’s Hat Trick Lifts Giants Past Gators 7-2 on Senior Day

La PLUME, Pa. - Oct. 13, 2018 - Senior Kayla Bain (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) scored three goals as the Keystone College field hockey team enjoyed a 7-2 CSAC win over visiting Notre Dame of Maryland on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Giants improve to 9-4, 4-0 CSAC and will conclude their suspended game with Bryn Athyn tomorrow at 3 pm. Keystone leads the Lions 4-0 with 25:57 in the second half. The Gators drop to 3-9, 0-6 CSAC.

Prior to Saturday's contest, Bain, Alex Smith (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin), Allison Berman (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./E.L. Meyers) and Emily Hawkins (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) were recognized for their commitment to and achievements for the program over the last four seasons.

Bain scored her first of the day in the sixth minute off a pass from Berman to give the Giants a 1-0 lead. In the 14th minute, junior Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) made it a 2-0 lead for Keystone.

In the 30th minute, sophomore Alex Williams (Elkton, Md./The Tome School) enjoyed her second goal of the year, assisted by Bain, to hand Keystone a 3-0 lead and Bain scored her second of the day, assisted by Robinson, to give the Giants a 4-0 lead headed to halftime. In the 49th minute, sophomore Jackie Martin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) drove home a penalty corner pass from Berman to extend the lead to 5-0.

For the second straight contest, sophomore Heaven Houck (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) successfully converted a penalty stroke opportunity, driving a shot into the cage in the 51st minute. Bain wrapped up the scoring with her third of the day and 12th of the year, off a helper from Martin, in the 59th minute.

Hawkins made one save on the day, earning the win. Sophomore Kali Kishter (Alexandria, Va./Mount Vernon) played the final 16:09 and made one stop.

The Giants outshot the Gators 18-5, with 11 shots on target. Keystone held the edge in penalty corners, 8-3.
