Houck & Martin Score in 2-1 Win Over Wilson

La PLUME, Pa. - Oct. 17, 2018 - Sophomores Heaven Houck (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) & Jackie Martin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) scored first-half goals as the Keystone College field hockey team held off visiting Wilson College for a 2-1 CSAC win on Wednesday afternoon.

With the victory, Keystone improves to 11-4 (6-0 CSAC) and will head to Bryn Athyn on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 1 pm. The Phoenix drop to 6-5 (5-2 CSAC).

In the 23rd minute, junior Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) was tripped up to draw the penalty and Houck drilled home the goal to give the Giants the 1-0 lead, her third penalty stroke goal in the last four contests.

Martin tacked on the Giants' second goal of the day in the 34th minute, driving home a rebound off a Robinson shot to hand Keystone a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

Wilson scored in the 69th minute to make the contest a one-goal affair but the Giant defense remained stout to hold on for the key league victory.

For the day, Keystone outshot the Phoenix 14-5 as Robinson led all players with four shots.

Junior Megan Novak (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) earned the victory and senior Emily Hawkins (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) made one save in cage.
