Field Hockey Enjoys Undefeated CSAC Regular Season with 2-1 Win Over Cedar Crest

La PLUME, Pa. - Oct. 24, 2018 - The Keystone College field hockey team earned its second-ever undefeated CSAC regular season on Wednesday, defeating visiting Cedar Crest 2-1.

The Giants improve to 13-4 on the year and match the 8-0 CSAC mark put together by the 2009 team. Keystone earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CSAC/NEAC playoffs and will host the championship game - with the automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament on the line - on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 pm. Cedar Crest falls to 6-9 (4-4 CSAC).

The Falcons got on the board in just the seventh minute of the contest to put the Giants behind 1-0 as this score stood throughout the first half.

In the 45th minute of the second half, senior Kayla Bain (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) tallied her 13th goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Taylor Cercone (Dallas, Pa./Lake Lehman) to tie the game up at 1-1.

With less than eight minutes to play in the contest, Bain netted her second of the day and 14th of the year off of assists from Cercone & junior Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) to give the Giants a 2-1 lead as Keystone held off the Falcons the rest of the way.

The Giants outshot Cedar Crest 18-5 and held a 10-1 advantage in penalty corners. Robinson led all players with nine shots, five being on target.

Junior keeper Megan Novak (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) earned the start and made two saves while senior Emily Hawkins (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) played the second half to earn the victory.
