Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) tallied a first-half goal and senior
Allison Berman (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./E.L. Meyers) tacked on an insurance goal in the second half as the Keystone College field hockey team defeated visiting Wilson 2-0 to win the 2018 CSACÂ title - the first in program history.
With the win, the Giants improve to 14-4 and have earned the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament, with the bracket announced on Sunday, Nov. 4. Wilson ends the year at 10-6.
Robinson was named the Tournament MVP after scoring what would be the game-winning goal in the 12th minute of play, assisted by Berman, for her 14th goal of the year. Robinson was named the regular season CSAC MVP as well after leading the league in points and assists.
Berman scored her third marker of the year in the 57th minute - assisted by sophomore
Jackie Martin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) - to give the Giants a 2-0 cushion.
Overall, the Giants dominated offensively, outshooting the Phoenix 21-8 and holding an 11-8 edge in penalty corner chances.
Robinson led all players with seven shots on the day while senior
Emily Hawkins (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) earned the start in the cage, making four stops for the shutout.
