North Myrtle Beach, SC—The Keystone College softball team dodged the raindrops and finally got back on the diamond Tuesday.
The Giants, however, came up on the short end of the scoreboard, losing to Lesley University (Mass.), 9-3, Rutgers-Camden, 9-5, and Cazenovia College, 4-0.
Freshman
Heaven Houck (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) led the Giants with three hits against Lesley and senior
Ryleigh Fitch (Springville, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) smacked a double and drove in a run.
Keystone fell behind 4-0 in the first inning against Rutgers-Camden, closed the gap to 5-4 in the bottom of the third, but the Scarlett Raptors added a run in the fourth and three in the sixth to hang on for the victory. Freshman
Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) and senior
Kaylee Hartman (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank Regional) led the Giants with two hits apiece and sophomore
Kassadi Woods (Trumansburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) doubled and scored a run. Mokychic hit a three-run home run, her team-leading second of the season.
In the nightcap, Keystone managed just two hits against Cazenovia, one each by junior
Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) and junior
Samantha Monetti (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North).
The Giants will play Franciscan University (Ohio) today and close out the six-game trip tomorrow against Albertus Magnus at 1:30 p.m and Bay Path (Mass.) at 3:30 p.m.
