Giants to host Rosemont as part of Strike Out Cancer Day Friday at Edmunds Field

Proceeds to benefit Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Keystone College softball team will host Rosemont College in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Friday afternoon at Edmunds Field in La Plume beginning at 3:00 p.m.

And while both teams will look to stay in contention for a playoff spot in the upcoming CSAC tournament, they'll also focus their efforts on a hideous disease that affects millions of people worldwide.

This Friday is Strikeout Cancer Day, and the Giants and the Ravens will do their part to help raise money to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Strikeout Cancer t-shirts will be on sale for just $15.00 and lollipops for only $1.00.  The lucky patrons who purchase the 'prize lollipops' will get an opportunity to participate in a dizzy bat race between games of the doubleheader for a chance to win a $50.00 gift card from Tully's Good Times located in nearby Clarks Summit.

According to the American Cancer Society, there will be nearly 1.75 million new cases diagnosed in the United States in 2018 and that there will be over 600,000 deaths.  In Pennsylvania alone, it is estimated that there will be nearly 81,000 new cancer cases diagnosed and over 28,000 deaths.

With funding and research, there's hope that these numbers can be cut drastically.
