La PLUME, Pa.—Senior
Kaylee Hartman (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank Regional) finished with four hits and drove in five runs to lead Keystone College to a sweep of Rosemont College in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Friday afternoon at Edmunds Field.
Hartman had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs as the Giants took the opener, 10-1 in five innings, then belted a double and finished with two hits and two RBIs as Keystone won the second game, 8-0, also in five innings.
The wins improve the Giants to 7-17 overall and move them into a tie for fifth place in the CSAC with a 6-6 league mark. Rosemont drops to 6-13 overall and 0-10 in conference play.
Game 1 – Keystone took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by junior
Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) and broke it open with a nine-run rally in the fourth that included a three-run double by Hartman and an run-scoring single by sophomore
Gabrielle Truesdale (Tunkhannock, Pa./Lackawanna Trail). Hughes picked up the win on the mound by holding the Ravens to just three hits and did not allow an earned run. She is now 3-7 on the season. Hughes and senior
Ryleigh Fitch (Springville, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) drove in a pair of runs and Truesdale finished with two hits. Sophomore Kaileigh Whalen belted a double and pinch-hitters Autumn Sharkey and Teagan Dawson each hit a single for Rosemont.
Game 2 – The Giants took the lead for good in the second inning on an RBI single by sophomore
Mariah Loughney (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) and added another in the third when Hartman doubled, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a ground out by winning pitcher
Ashley Constable (Bangor, Pa./Bangor Area). Keystone broke it open with a five-run rally in the fourth that included a two-run home run by freshman
Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) and a two-run single by Hartman. Loughney led the Giants with three hits and Hartman and Mokychic added a pair.
Constable improved to 2-2 on the mound by scattering three hits, striking out two, and allowing just one walk in picking up the complete game victory. Colleen Hall, Lena Buccigrossi, and Christian Broccolino each hit a single for Rosemont.
The Giants will host Cedar Crest College in a CSAC doubleheader beginning at noon. After the second game, Hartman and Fitch will be honored as part of Senior Day festivities.
