LANSDOWNE, Pa.—Keystone College locked up the top seed in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament by sweeping Cairn University Saturday afternoon.
Senior pitcher
Troy Terzi (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame) allowed just four hits and junior
Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask) finished with two hits and three RBIs as the Giants downed the Highlanders, 4-1, in the opener. Sophomores
Alejandro Monteverde (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) and
Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) each belted a home run as Keystone took the nightcap, 17-0.
The Giants have now won 11 straight games to improve to 26-7 overall and 14-0 in the conference. The losses drop Cairn to 16-14 overall and 5-7 in the CSAC.
In the second game, Monteverde and sophomore
Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) finished with three hits apiece and McFadden had two hits and scored twice. McFadden also got the start on the mound and went six innings and allowed just two hits to improve his record to 6-1.
Keystone will open a two-game CSAC series against Gwynedd Mercy University on Monday, April 30, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Christy Mathewson Field in La Plume.
