Field Hockey Falls 1-0 in OT at King’s

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Sept. 17, 2018 - The Keystone College field hockey team dropped a tough 1-0 contest in overtime at King's College on a rainy Monday evening at McCarthy Stadium.

With the defeat, the Giants drop to 2-3 on the year and will prepare to host Elmira on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 pm. The Lady Monarchs improve to 4-3.

For the contest, the Giants fired off four shots, with three coming off the stick of senior Kayla Bain (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey), the Offensive Player of the Week in the CSAC for Sept. 10-16. Junior Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) accounted for the other Keystone shot.

Junior Megan Novak (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) and senior Emily Hawkins (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) split time in goal, as Novak tallied two stops in the first half and Hawkins making one stop in the second session and overtime.

King's fired off seven shots, the last of which found the back of the cage 5:58 into the extra period following a cross from the right side.

This was the Giants' first overtime game since Oct. 15, 2016, when Keystone defeated visiting Immaculata, 2-1.
