Richner’s Two Goals Lifts Women’s Soccer Over Rosemont 4-2

ROSEMONT, Pa. - Sept. 22, 2018 - Junior Hayden Richner (Nicholson, Pa./Mountain View) tallied two goals and an assist as the Keystone College women's soccer team defeated Rosemont 4-2 in the CSAC opener for both teams on Saturday.

In addition, the Giants (1-6-0, 1-0-0 CSAC) broke their six-game losing skid to start the year and now have a five-match winning streak against the Ravens (1-6-0, 0-1-0 CSAC), last losing to Rosemont in 2013.

The Ravens scored in the 10th minute but freshman Amber Shirtz (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) netted the equalizer in the 28th minute, for her first career goal, off an assist from Richner.

Less than two minutes later, Richner tallied a score to give the Giants a 2-1 lead heading into halftime. Following a Raven goal in the 60th minute, junior Amber Smith (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) found the back of the net in the 67th minute - assisted by junior Jordyn Olsen (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) - to go ahead 3-2.

Richner took a feed from Shirtz in the 75th minute to conclude the scoring for the Giants.

Junior keeper Rebekah Shepherd (South Canaan, Pa./Western Wayne) earned her first win of the fall and made 11 saves, her fifth game this season with at least 11 stops.

Keystone will travel to Marywood on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 4 pm.
