Women’s Volleyball Earns First Win of 2018; Splits on Friday

GLASSBORO, N.J. - Sept. 7, 2018 - The Keystone College women's volleyball team earned its first victory of the 2018 season on Friday, defeating Penn State Abington before falling to host Rowan in the Profs Invite.

The Giants (1-5) wrap up the weekend tournament against Widener (11 am) and Curry (1 pm).

Keystone 3, Penn State Abington 1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21)

The Giants enjoyed the first victory of the 2018 season with a four-set win over PSU-Abington, led by 12 kills (.346) from senior Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge), who recorded a double-double with 12 digs.

Senior Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) floored 10 kills (.316) and senior Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) registered nine kills and 15 digs. Junior Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) distributed a match-high 33 assists to go along with three total blocks - moving into second place all-time in career blocks.

Behind the service line, Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) floored a match-high five aces and chipped in with a team-high 17 digs. Freshman Madi Aston (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) contributed three aces while sophomore Erika Schwoyer (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) totaled three block assists.

Rowan 3, Keystone 0 (18-25, 17-25, 11-25)

The Giants fell in straight sets to the host Profs as four student-athletes finished with at least four kills, led by five from Beatty.

Hardy dished out 16 assists while Heitman and Holmfeld paced the back row with 21 and 13 digs, respectively.
