Rodriguez & Caro Score in 34-13 Defeat at Alfred State

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Keystone College football program battled host Alfred State College in a 34-13 loss on Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Stadium.
  • Keystone drops to 1-3 on their inaugural year and will prepare to head to King's College in a JV contest on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 4:30 p.m.
  • The Pioneers improve to 2-3 on the season.
  • The Giants started the scoring with a 6-yard strike by Thomas Roach (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) to Angel Rodriguez (Islip, N.Y./Islip) to hand Keystone a 6-0 edge less than three minutes into the contest.
  • On the opening drive, Kevin Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep) completed a 31-yard pass to Zechariah Wassell (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area).
  • Alfred State followed with 34 unanswered points in the 1st, 3rd and 4th quarters before Evan Caro (Endwell, N.Y./Maine Endwell) cashed in on a 2-yard pass from Johnathan Bates (Jersey City, N.J./Hudson Catholic) to make it a 34-13 ballgame.
  • On that scoring drive, Michael Bond, Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) hauled in an 11-yard pass and Wassell enjoyed a 33-yard reception.
  • Roach finished 8-of-18 for 66 yards and one TD while Bates went 3-of-4 for 46 yards and one TD.
  • Both Keystone & Alfred State finished with 143 yards through the air.
  • Jeremiah Allen (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Forks) gained 49 yards on 11 carries while Roach rushed 6 times for 32 yards.
  • Wassell led the receiving corps with 64 yards while Rodriguez hauled in 4 catches for 29 yards.
  • Caro, Bond and Javier Tazza (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) combined for 6 receptions.
  • Defensively, Brandon Davis (Tampa, Fla./Sickles), Brandon Smith (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler) and Brandon Lawyer (Dover, Pa./Dover Area) all finished with 8 tackles, with Davis & Lawyer enjoying one tackle for loss.
  • Michael Jimenez (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) & Frankie Vega (Edison, N.J./Edison) recorded 6 tackles apiece while Jalen Davis (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) notched 5.
  • Edward Sichilongo (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady), Sean Tocci (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) and Brendan Hammerle (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) all finished with tackles each.
  • The Pioneers rushed for 388 yards as Dashown Wilson accounted for 212 on the ground.
