La PLUME, Pa. - Feb. 16, 2019 – Trailing by 19 points with 5:14 in the third quarter, the Keystone College women's basketball team battled back and defeated visiting Valley Forge 65-61 in the final game of the regular season.
The Giants (15-10) outscored the Patriots (9-10) 26-9 in the fourth quarter and ended the game on a 22-5 run to finish off the comeback win.
The Giants trailed 37-30 and halftime and were down 52-39 entering the fourth quarter. Losing by one (59-58), a three by sophomore
Faith Shiffer (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) with 54 seconds to play put the Giants ahead 61-59.
Freshman
Mac Oribello (San Diego, Calif./Westview) made a layup and Shiffer sank two free throws in the final 28 seconds to seal the come-from-behind win.
Overall, Oribello finished with a team-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Junior
Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) finished with 12 points and two steals.
Shiffer tallied seven points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds while senior
Mayah Kitchen (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds.
Sophomores
Khaliah Gordon (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Wood) and
Samy Farah (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) combined for 17 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and three steals.
For the Patriots, Jhanel Brown scored 22 points and grabbed 15 boards while Amaya Brown tallied 14 points. Carlee Conrad chipped in 10 points.
Keystone has earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CSAC Tournament and will host a semifinal game on Wednesday, Feb. 20 with time and opponent to be determined.
