Lloyd Reaches 100 Career Hits, Softball Swept at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Junior Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) enjoyed her 100th career hit on Sunday afternoon but the Keystone College softball team was swept by host Penn College, dropping game one 9-1 in five innings before falling 7-2 in game two.

The Giants are now 4-8 on the year and are scheduled to host the University of Scranton on Wednesday, March 27 at 3 p.m. in the team's 2019 home opener. The Wildcats improve 6-4 on the season.

Penn College 9, Keystone 1 (5 innings)

The Giants tallied three hits and Lloyd came through with an RBI sacrifice fly in the first inning but the Wildcats offense provided 13 hits in the opener as Penn College scored four runs in the fourth frame.

Sophomore Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area), freshman Jessica Troy (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers Middle) and senior Gabrielle Truesdale (Tunkhannock, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) all tallied a base knock each.

Senior Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) scored the team's lone run and was pegged with the loss in the circle, going three innings while striking out two. Sophomore Lauren Smith (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) tossed the final 1 â…” innings.

Penn College 7, Keystone 2

Lloyd finished 2-for-3, including her 100th career hit, and senior Samantha Monetti (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) also went 2-for-3 as the Giants ended with eight hits in game two.

Troy, Hughes, Truesdale and freshman Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) all provided one hit, with Johnson coming through with an RBI triple in the third, scoring Monetti.

Freshman Hannah Dickson (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) suffered the defeat, tossing four innings while fanning two Wildcats. Smith threw the final two frames.
