La PLUME, Pa. – Junior
Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) became the all-time program leader in career home runs in Saturday's CSAC sweep of visiting Cairn University as the Keystone College softball team won game one, 14-0 before winning game two, 8-0.
Lloyd now has 18 career long balls (5 this season) and passes Abby Cohen, who accrued 17 homers from 2010-13. Lloyd is hitting .574 (27-for-47) this year with five homers, five doubles, three triples and 26 RBI.
With the doubleheader win, the Giants are now 7-11 (2-0 CSAC) and will play at Neumann University on Tuesday, April 2 at 3 p.m. The Highlanders drop to 5-9 (1-3 CSAC).
Keystone 14, Cairn 0 (5 innings)
The Giants scored eight times in the bottom of the first and took advantage of six Highlander errors to run away in game one.
Overall, Keystone had 12 hits as sophomore
Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Freshman
Brittany Vasquez (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) finished 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Senior
Gabrielle Truesdale (Tunkhannock, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) went 2-for-3 with two runs while senior
Samantha Monetti (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Senior
Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) pitched all five innings of shutout ball, striking out two while allowing three hits, which all came in the fourth and fifth frames.
Keystone 8, Cairn 0 (5 innings)
Freshman
Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) and Lloyd both smashed homers to center field and the Giants finished with 11 hits total in game two.
Truesdale finished 3-for-3, including the game-winning single, while Johnson went 2-for-3 and Hughes enjoyed a 2-for-3 day with three RBI.
Lloyd went 1-for-1 (two-run homer in the third) with two walks.
Sophomore
Lauren Smith (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) earned the win in the circle, scattering six hits while striking out two.
