Giants Enjoy 8-7 Walkoff Win Over Arcadia

La PLUME, Pa. –
Junior Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) reached first on a sacrifice bunt and senior Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) scored on a throwing error by Arcadia's pitcher to give the Keystone College baseball team an 8-7 walkoff win over the visiting Knights in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, Keystone is 9-9 overall and will take on Wilson College in a CSAC series from April 12-13, starting on Friday at Wilson. The Knights move to 17-9 on the year.

Keystone tallied 15 hits in Wednesday's win, as freshman Devin Reed (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) – the reigning CSAC Hitter of the Week – went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI at the leadoff spot.

Panzarella, senior Johann Paniagua (Bronx, NY/James Monroe Campus High School), senior Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant) and junior Joe Fichera (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) all finished with two hits apiece. Hussein launched a solo homer down the left field line in the fifth to hand Keystone a 2-1 lead.

Following a two-run homer by Arcadia in the eighth, the Giants plated four in the bottom of the frame, thanks to a two-run double by sophomore R.J. Gouldsbury and a Fichera double as Keystone went ahead 7-4.

The Knights answered back with a game-tying three-run blast to left field to knot the game up at 7-all before the Giants won the game on the unearned run in the bottom of the ninth.

On the hill, junior Jared Rowley (Dover, Del./Dover) earned the start and went 7 2/3 innings, striking out three while walking three. Rowley tossed 123 pitches and forced 16 flyouts and three groundouts.

Juniors Zabdiel Parilla (Reading, Pa./Reading), Evan Plante (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers) and Ramon Disla (Bronx, N.Y./Alfred E. Smith) came out in relief as Disla earned the win.
