La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team fell twice to visiting Marywood University on Wednesday, dropping game one 4-1 before losing game two, 12-3, at Edmunds Field.
The Giants are now 8-18 and will head to Clarks Summit University tomorrow at 3 p.m. The Pacers improve to 13-15 on the year.
Marywood 4, Keystone 1
The Giants totaled eight hits as freshman
Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy), sophomore
Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) and senior
Samantha Monetti (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) as collected two hits apiece. Mokychic tallied a double in the bottom of the first.
Monetti scored the team's only run in the third.
Freshman
Jessica Troy (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers Middle) and sophomore
Baylie Reed (Olyphant, Pa./Valley View) notched the other base knocks for Keystone.
Senior
Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) tossed 125 pitches in the loss, striking out three while forcing 10 groundouts and six flyouts.
Marywood 12, Keystone 3
Keystone finished with 10 hits as Troy and junior
Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) both collected three hits. Troy went 3-for-4 with two RBI while Lloyd finished 3-for-4.
Mokychic went 2-for-3 and Monetti went 1-for-3 with one run scored. Junior
Mariah Loughney (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) drew a bases-loaded walk on a nine-pitch at bat to put Keystone up 1-0 in the fourth.
The Pacers plated six in the fifth, two in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Sophomore
Lauren Smith (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) threw 99 pitches in the defeat, striking out two while giving up just four earned runs. Smith forced 14 groundouts and five flyouts.
