Softball Slips Up at King’s on Tuesday

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team fell twice to host King's College on Tuesday, dropping game one 6-2 before falling in game two 8-4.

The Giants are now 12-20 on the year and will host Rosemont College in CSAC action on Thursday, April 18. The Monarchs improve to 16-13.

Game One: King's 6, Keystone 2

The Giants finished with six hits as junior Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) and freshman Brittany Vasquez (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) both tallied doubles.

Junior Kassadi Woods (Trumansburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) and Vasquez went 1-for-3 at the bottom of the lineup with one RBI. The Giants claimed a 2-1 lead following Vasquez's double in the second.

Senior Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) was pegged with the loss as the righty tossed six frames and struck out two while walking four. Hughes threw 139 pitches.

Game Two: King's 8, Keystone 4

Keystone finished with 10 hits as sophomore Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Lloyd also finished 2-for-4 with one run.

Junior Mariah Loughney (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) ripped a two-run single to left center in the sixth.

Sophomore Lauren Smith (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) suffered the defeat, throwing 99 pitches while striking out four and walking four.
