La PLUME, Pa. – Sophomore
Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) and junior
Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) both set personal records on Thursday as the Keystone College softball team split with visiting Rosemont College on Thursday in CSAC action, dropping game one 7-5, before taking game two, 11-0 (5 innings).
With the split, the Giants are now 13-21 (8-2 CSAC) and will travel to Misericordia University on Tuesday, April 23. The Ravens fall to 11-23 (4-6 CSAC).
Mokychic collected her 100
th career hit as the sophomore went 7-for-7 in the doubleheader with 3 home runs (2 in game one), 7 RBI, 7 runs, one double and one triple. Mokychic is batting .464 this year with 4 HR and 31 RBI.
Lloyd, meanwhile, became the program's single-season home run leader with her 11
th long ball of the spring, besting the previous mark of 9 set by
Hunter Schantz (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) in 2017. The junior is also the single-season RBI leader with 48 runs driven in, shattering the previous record of 43 set by Jill Shoemaker in 1987.
Lloyd finished the day 6-for-7 with 2 HR (both in game two ), 7 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Game One: Rosemont 7, Keystone 5
Despite leading 4-1 after the fifth, the Ravens responded with four in the sixth and two in the seventh to take the opener.
Mokychic started the game with homers in the first and third and Lloyd provided an RBI double in the fifth as the Giants went ahead 4-1. Lloyd added an RBI single in the seventh.
Keystone finished with 11 hits as Mokychic and Lloyd combined for seven hits. Freshman
Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) notched a triple, freshman
Brittany Vasquez (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) enjoyed a double while seniors
Gabrielle Truesdale (Tunkhannock, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) and
Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) both provided base knocks.
Hughes suffered the loss in the circle, tossing seven innings and 87 pitches while walking two.
Game Two: Keystone 11, Rosemont 0 (5 innings)
The Giants plated four in the first, two in the second and five in the third and ripped 16 hits in the nightcap.
Mokychic and Lloyd went deep back-to-back in the first and Hughes ripped a two-run double in the second to give Keystone a 6-0 lead.
Mokychic notched a run-scoring single in the third followed by a grand slam blast by Lloyd to put the game away. Mokychic and Lloyd combined to go 6-for-6 with nine RBI in game two.
Johnson, Vasquez and Truesdale all collected two hits each.
Sophomore
Lauren Smith (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) earned her 7
th win of the spring, scattering four hits on 53 pitches.
