DALLAS, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team fell twice at Misericordia University on Tuesday afternoon, losing game one, 8-0 in six innings, before falling in game two, 9-1, in five innings.
The Giants (13-23) are scheduled to play at Centenary University on Friday, April 26. The Cougars improve to 26-10 on the year.
Game One: Misericordia 8, Keystone 0 (6 innings)
The Cougars scored five runs in the fourth and limited the Giants to just three hits in the opener.
At the plate, senior
Samantha Monetti (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North), sophomore
Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) and junior
Mariah Loughney (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) accounted for Keystone's base knocks. Mokychic also stole one base.
In the circle, senior
Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) was charged with the defeat as the righty tossed 110 pitches, striking out five Cougars while walking four. Hughes forced both five groundouts and five flyouts.
Game Two: Misericordia 9, Keystone 1 (5 innings)
The Cougars scored six in the bottom of the first and added two more in the second.
Keystone finished with six hits as Loughney went 2-for-2 with one double and the lone run scored for the Giants. Junior
Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) went 2-for-3 while freshmen
Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) and
Brittany Vasquez (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) added one hit each.

Heaven Houck (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) provided one RBI.

Lauren Smith (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) suffered the loss as the righty threw 104 pitches while walking eight.
