Baseball Enjoys 6-4 Come-From-Behind Win at Cairn

LANGHORNE, Pa. - Junior Joe Fichera (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) blasted the game-tying two-run homer in the seventh inning as the Keystone College baseball team came from behind to defeat Cairn University 6-4 in CSAC action on Saturday.

With the road win, the Giants improve to 13-11 (6-1 CSAC) as Keystone and Highlanders will play a doubleheader on Monday, April 22 starting at 1 p.m. in La Plume. Cairn drops to 13-16 (5-2 CSAC).

Keystone jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third thanks to an unearned run off an error by Cairn's second baseman and an RBI single to center by senior Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant).

The Highlanders knotted the game up at 2-2 after the bottom of the third and took the lead, 4-2, after scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Fichera blasted a two-run shot in the seventh - scoring senior Ronald Medina (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) - and senior Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) came through with the go-ahead RBI single through the left to score Hussein and give Keystone a 5-4 lead.

In the eighth, senior Johann Paniagua (Bronx, NY/James Monroe Campus High School) gave the Giants an insurance run, scoring off an error by Cairn's first baseman.

Hussein finished 3-for-5 on the day with one double and one run while Fichera went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Paniagua also went 2-for-4 with a double.

Hussein got the starting nod and went six frames in the no-decision as the righty tossed 90 pitches and struck out five while allowing no earned runs and walking four.

Junior Ramon Disla (Bronx, N.Y./Alfred E. Smith) earned the win in relief as the righty threw the final three innings and logged 48 pitches while striking out five.
