Softball Swept by Wilson on Senior Day

La PLUME, Pa. - The Keystone College softball team dropped a pair of CSAC contests to visiting Wilson College on Saturday, falling 2-1 in game one before losing game two, 7-1.


The Giants are now 13-25 (8-4 CSAC) and will travel to Centenary tomorrow at 3 p.m. The Phoenix improves to 22-6-2 (12-0 CSAC). Both teams have clinched berths into the CSAC Tournament.

After the doubleheader, the Giants honored their three senior members in a post-game ceremony: Samantha Monetti (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North), Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) and Gabrielle Truesdale (Tunkhannock, Pa./Lackawanna Trail).

Game One: Wilson 2, Keystone 1

The Giants finished with five hits as junior Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) went 2-for-3 and scored the team's only run.

Freshman Brittany Vasquez (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) gave the Giants a 1-0 lead with an RBI single to right center in the second. Wilson scored twice in the fifth, including a bases-loaded walk.

In the top of the first, freshman Jessica Troy (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers Middle) battled Wilson's Megan Potter on a 14-pitch at-bat, fouling off nine pitches.

Hughes was charged with the loss, striking out four while walking three. Potter struck out 14 Giants.

Game Two: Wilson 7, Keystone 1

The Phoenix scored two in the first and four in the fifth and limited Keystone to just three hits.

Truesdale came through with an RBI double to left center in the second, scoring sophomore Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area), for the team's only run.

Lloyd went 2-for-3 and is now batting .585 on the year (62-for-106).

Sophomore Lauren Smith (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) was charged with the loss, striking out two while walking four.
