ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team salvaged a split at Cedar Crest College in CSAC action on Saturday, falling in game one, 5-3, before winning game two, 9-6.
The Giants are now 8-16 (3-1 CSAC) and are set to host Marywood University on Tuesday, April 9 at 3 p.m. The Falcons are 9-14 (5-1 CSAC).
The nightcap win for the Giants was Keystone's first over Cedar Crest since April 23, 2016.
Cedar Crest 5, Keystone 3 (Game One)
The Giants jumped out to a 2-0 lead but could not hold on as the Falcons hit three homers to take game one.
Keystone finished with seven hits as junior
Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) went 2-for-4 with an RBI double to right in the third. Freshman
Jessica Troy (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers Middle) went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored.
Sophomore
Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single up the middle in the top of the first. Freshman
Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) finished 1-for-4 with an RBI double to right in the third.
Senior
Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) struck out five and walked four in the loss.
Keystone 9, Cedar Crest 6 (Game Two)
The Giants enjoyed 14 hits as Lloyd smacked her league-leading 8
th homer of the spring in the sixth. Lloyd finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Johnson went 2-for-5 with three runs at leadoff while Troy went 2-for-5 with a two-run triple to right in the seventh. Hughes finished 2-for-3 while both Mokychic and junior
Mariah Loughney (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) drove in two RBI.
In the circle, sophomore
Lauren Smith (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) earned the win, striking out four in 4 1/3, while Hughes came on in relief and tossed 2 2/3, allowing one run and striking out one.
