La PLUME, Pa. – The No. 1 seed Keystone College women's lacrosse team fell to visiting No. 3 seed Notre Dame of Maryland 19-8 in the 2019 CSAC Championship game on Saturday night.
The Giants' season comes to an end at 12-4 overall, as Keystone enjoyed an undefeated 10-0 CSAC regular season. The Gators improve to 11-5 and earned the automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The Gators jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first half and outscored Keystone 8-4 in the second half. Megan Morales – the 2019 CSAC Player of the Year – was named the MVP after scoring nine goals and tallying 13 draw controls.
For the Giants, sophomore
Alex Williams (Elkton, Md./The Tome School) tallied two goals on two shots while senior
Kayla Bain (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) scored twice, had one assist, tallied seven ground balls and six caused turnovers.
Seniors
Nisa Cortes (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) and
Alex Smith (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) had one goal while junior
Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) and sophomore
Jackie Martin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) tallied one goal.
Sophomore
Kali Kishter (Alexandria, Va./Mt. Vernon) earned the start and finished with 11 saves on the night in over 55 minutes. Cortes came in to play for 4:42 in relief.
Five seniors played their final game for the Giants: Bain, Cortes, Smith,
Emily Hutton (North Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) and
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge).
The game featured nine cards, as Keystone was issued five yellows.
