Football Falls at Wilkes 23-19 in Program Debut

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Keystone College football team fell 23-19 in JV action at Wilkes University on Sunday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
  • For the first time since 1948, the Giants played on the gridiron.
  • Keystone will head to Misericordia University on Saturday, Sept. 14 for a varsity contest at 1 p.m.
  • The Colonels jumped on the board early in the 1st quarter to take a 7-0 lead.
  • Johnathan Bates (Jersey City, N.J./Hudson Catholic) connected with Angel Rodriguez (Islip, N.Y./Islip) for a 30 yard touchdown pass to tie the game up at 7-7 with 5:58 to play in the 1st quarter.
  • Edward Sichilongo (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) made a 29 yard field goal with 1:32 to play in the 2nd quarter.
  • Damir Green (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep) enjoyed a 16-yard rushing touchdown in the 4th quarter to cut into the Wilkes lead, 23-17.
  • Overall, the Giants finished with 378 yards of total offense (253 passing) as Thomas Roach (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) threw for 127 yards (12-of-24).
  • Bates went 8-of-15 for 126 while scampering for 67 yards on the ground.
  • Green had 12 rushes for 66 yards while Jeremiah Allen (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Forks) carried the ball five times for 27 yards.
  • Javier Tazza (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) made four grabs for 43 yards while Rodriguez, Chad Jones (Bear, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) and Green all made three catches.
  • Marcus Sessoms (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) made two grabs for 23 yards.
  • On defense, Brandon Davis (Tampa, Fla./Sickles) finished with three tackles and one interception.
  • Jorge Urizar (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville), Kyree Cooper (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City), Sean Tocci (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) and Montez Gaskin (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson West Side) led the defensive unit with multiple tackles each.
