Baseball Drops 19-14 Slugfest to Fitchburg State



AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Keystone College baseball team fell 19-14 in an offensive-packed contest to Fitchburg State on Tuesday during spring break.
  • Keystone falls to 2-4 & will be off until Friday, March 13 when the Giants face Rhode Island College at 9:30 a.m.
  • Fitchburg State improves to 3-4.
  • Tuesday's game featured 33 runs, 39 hits & 7 errors.
  • Keystone jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st but the Falcons knotted the game up after the top of the 3rd.
  • The Giants regained the lead 6-5 after the 5th inning, however, Fitchburg tallied 12 runs in the next 2 innings to grab a 17-10 after 7 frames.
  • Trailing 19-10, a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th by junior RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) gave the Giants life but Fitchburg held on.
  • Sophomore Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) had a great day at the dish, going 5-for-6 with a triple & 5 runs scored.
  • Gouldsbury finished 4-for-5 with the grand slam, a double & 5 RBI.
  • Junior Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) went 3-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI, 3 walks & 3 runs scored.
  • Kelly is hitting .550 so far this year (11-for-20).
  • Senior Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) enjoyed 4 RBI on the afternoon.
  • Junior Conrad Holbrook (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) earned the start & pitched 4 innings with 6 strikeouts, throwing 68 pitches.
  • Senior Ramon Disla (Bronx, N.Y./Alfred E. Smith), senior Matt Tarabola (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee), senior Zabdiel Parrilla (Reading, Pa./Reading) & sophomore Patrick Adamski (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) all appeared in relief, combining for 7 strikeouts.
