Men’s Soccer Enjoys 3-1 Win at CSU; Earns No. 2 Seed

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - The Keystone College men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-1 road victory at Clarks Summit University in CSAC action on Wednesday afternoon.

  • With the win, Keystone improves to 9-6-1 (6-1-0 CSAC) while CSU ends the year at 3-11-0 (1-6-0 CSAC).
  • The Giants have earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming 2021 CSAC Tournament and will host No. 3 seed Cairn University in the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 3 with time to be determined.
  • Keystone defeated the Highlanders 1-0 on Oct. 24.

Standout Performers

  • Franck Rutabara (Dayton, Ohio/Mound Street Academy) scored his sixth goal of the year with an equalizer in the 23rd minute to knot the contest at 1-1. Rutabara led all players with three shots.
  • Axel Gonzalez (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) scored the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute for his team-high ninth goal of the year, thanks to an assist from Sebastian Bonilla (Clermont, Fla./East Ridge).
  • Luis Arrieta (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian) concluded the scoring with his second goal of the season coming in the 82nd minute, again from an assist off of Bonilla.
  • Tommy Peifer notched the opening goal for the Defenders in just the sixth minute of play.
  • Erick Gomez (New Orleans, La./John Ehret) earned the win, making one stop in between the pipes.
