Women's Basketball Rallies But Falls Short to Clarks Summit

The Giants overcame a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to make it a two-point game with the final possesion.

La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone women's basketball team rallied from a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit but ultimately fell short to Clarks Summit University, 58-56, Thursday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference play at the Gambal Athletic Center.

The Giants had final possession with less than three seconds remaining, but a last-shot attempt did not get off in time to beat the final buzzer.

  • Keystone fell to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in CSAC play.
  • CSU improved to 6-1 overall, 3-0 in conference play.
  • It was the Giants' first home women's basketball game since Feb. 2020.

Outstanding Performers

  • Katie Price (Fredonia, N.Y./Fredonia) led the team in scoring with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists. She shot 4 of 13 from beyond the arc, splashing three of those in the final quarter to help lead the rally.
  • Renata Alberici (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) recorded her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The junior cut the game down to just a one-point lead after hitting a free throw at the 1:31 mark in the final period.
  • Abby Ritz (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunhannock Area) finished with 12 rebounds and four points.
  • Clarks Summit's Elizabeth Singleton led the Defenders with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting and corralled 16 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Alison Aten and Randie Traxler also scored in double-digit figures for the Defenders, each finishing with 13 points.

  • Keystone began the fourth quarter with an 11-point deficit but outscored Clarks Summit, 21-12, to make it a two-point differential in the final arithmetic.
  • CSU edged Keystone with a slight 51-49 rebound-advantage but overpowered the Giants with a 15-9 second-chance points margin and a 22-12 chip for points in the points.
