Softball Opens 2021 Season at Wesley

DOVER, Del. – The Keystone College softball team returned to the field for the first time since March 12, 2020, in non-conference action at Wesley College.

Keystone dropped game one, 2-1, and fell 15-2 in five innings in game two.

The Giants (0-2) will travel to #19 Moravian College on Tuesday, March 23 at 3 p.m. The Wolverines (2-4) head to Immaculata on Friday, March 26.

Game 1: Wesley 2, Keystone 1

  • The Giants outhit the Wolverines 9-4 but left eight runners on base.
  • Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) went 2-for-4 at the leadoff spot with a double.
  • Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles while scoring the lone Keystone run.
  • Lauryn Rodriguez (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) collected two hits while Marlena Pegula (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) notched a double.
  • Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) went 1-for-2 with an RBI bunt single in the 4th inning to tie the game at 1-1.
  • Wesley went up 1-0 in the 2nd and reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the 4th.
  • Pegula earned the start and tossed 6 innings with 4 strikeouts, allowing just 4 hits.

 

Game 2:

  •  Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) tallied an RBI groundout in the top of the 1st to put KC up 1-0.
  • Wesley then scored 12 unanswered runs to go up 12-1.
  • Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) notched an RBI double in the 4th.
  • The Wolverines then tallied 3 more runs in the bottom half of the 4th.
  • Both Frye and Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) went 2-for-2.
  • Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) earned the start and struck out 4.
