Softball Sweeps Rosemont on Thursday

ROSEMONT, Pa. - The Keystone College softball team enjoyed a doubleheader sweep at Rosemont College on Thursday evening, winning the opener 12-4 (6 innings) and taking the nightcap 8-4 (8 innings).
 
  • Keystone (2-2, 2-0 CSAC) hosts St. Elizabeth on Saturday, April 10 at 12 pm. Senior Day will follow the doubleheader.
  • Rosemont (1-3, 1-3 CSAC) travels to Centenary on Saturday, April 10.

Game 1: Keystone 12, Rosemont 4 (6 innings)
 
  • The Giants tallied 14 hits and took advantage of 4 Raven miscues.
  • KC scored 11 of their 12 runs in the last 3 innings.
  • Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) went 3-for-4 with 3 runs and 4 RBI while Lauryn Rodriguez (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) finished 3-for-4 with 4 RBI, including 2 triples.
  • Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) & Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) both collected 2 hits as Mokychic tallied 3 runs.
  • Both Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) & Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) scored twice.
  • Hannah Dickson (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) earned the victory, throwing 93 pitches while striking out 1 and walking 2.
Game 2: Keystone 8, Rosemont 4 (8 innings)
  • Despite trailing 3-0, the Giants battled back to tie the contest & win in extra frames.
  • Keystone scored all of their runs in the 7th & 8th innings & tallied 11 hits overall.
  • Lloyd finished 2-for-2 with 3 walks & a triple while Erin Dunn (Harveys Lake, Pa./Tunkhannock) collected 2 hits & 1 RBI.
  • Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) started & tossed 5 frames with 6 strikeouts.
  • Marlena Pegula (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) came in relief & threw the final 3 innings with 4 punchouts.
  • Rosemont went ahead 3-0 after the 3rd. 
  • In the 7th, Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman), Pegula & Dunn all drove in runs before the Giants exploded for 5 runs in the 8th to put the game away.
