Softball Sweeps SEU on Senior Day

La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team swept visiting St. Elizabeth University on Saturday afternoon in CSAC action.
 
  • The Giants (4-2, 4-0 CSAC) captured game one, 11-2 in 6 innings, and claimed game two, 9-1 in 5 innings.
  • The Eagles drop to 1-7 (1-7 CSAC).
  • After the contests, the program honored team manager Brian Klatt, Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll), Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) & Lauryn Rodriguez (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) for Senior Day.
  • Lloyd became the program's all-time career hits leader - surpassing Sara Schraden (2012-15). Lloyd now has 166 career hits.
  • Lloyd's career hits by year: 2017 (41), 2018 (38), 2019 (68), 2020 (13), 2021 (6).
 
Game One: Keystone 11, SEU 2 (6 innings)
 
  • Rodriguez finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs & 4 RBI, including a 3-run HR in the 3rd.
  • Marlena Pegula (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI, including a 2-run shot in the 3rd. Pegula earned the win in the circle, tossing 6 innings with 6 strikeouts and just 1 walk.
  • Lloyd went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs while Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
  • The Giants finished with 15 hits.
  • Keystone enjoyed a 5-run 3rd and 3-run 6th to seal the victory.
 
Game Two: Keystone 9, SEU 1 (5 innings)
 
  • The Giants tallied 4 runs in the 2nd and 3 in the 5th to put the game away.
  • Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, including a bases-clearing triple in the 2nd.
  • Both Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) & Mokychic went 2-for-3 with 1 run.
  • Rodriguez finished 2-for-2 with 2 runs & 1 RBI while Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) notched 2 hits, including a 3-run triple in the 5th.
  • Hannah Dickson (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) earned the victory, tossing all 5 frames, allowing 7 hits while striking out 1.
