Softball Splits at Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Keystone College softball team earned a split at Centenary in a CSAC doubleheader on Tuesday.
 
  • The Giants are now 5-3 (5-1 CSAC) and will host Notre Dame (Md.) tomorrow at 3 pm.
  • The Cyclones improve to 6-4 (6-2 CSAC) and travel to Cedar Crest on Saturday, April 17.
Game One: Keystone 14, Centenary 9
  • KC jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the 4th.
  • The Giants enjoyed 13 hits in the opener.
  • Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll), Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) & Lauryn Rodriguez (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) combined to go 9-for-12 with 9 RBI and 8 runs scored.
  • Rodriguez - the reigning CSAC Hitter of the Week - went 3-for-4 with 5 RBI & 2 runs scored, tallying a double & triple.
  • Lloyd went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI, 2 walks & 3 runs scored while Frye finished 3-for-5 with 2 RBI & 3 runs.
  • Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) picked up 2 RBI while Olivero, Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area), Marlena Pegula (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) & Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) all tallied hits.
  • Pegula earned her 3rd win of the spring, tossing 7 frames with 2 strikeouts, forcing 11 flyouts & 7 groundouts on 139 pitches.
Game Two: Centenary 6, Keystone 5
  • KC led 3-2 after the 2nd but gave up 4 runs in the next 2 innings.
  • Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) went 2-for-3 with a double & 3 RBI while Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) collected a triple.
  • Frye went 2-for-4 with Lloyd and Booth providing hits.
  • Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) started and tossed 4 frames, striking out 2, forcing 6 flyouts & 4 groundouts.
  • Hannah Dickson (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) threw the final 2 innings, allowing just 1 hit.
