Giants Outscore UVF 54-6 in DH Sweep

La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College baseball team enjoyed a CSAC doubleheader sweep of visiting University of Valley Forge on Sunday, defeating the Patriots 24-5 in game 1 followed by a 30-1 victory in game 2.
 
  • With the wins, the Giants improve to 13-3 (7-1 CSAC) and will travel to PSU Harrisburg on Tuesday, April 20 for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
  • The Patriots fall to 1-8 on the year.
 
Game One: Keystone 24, UVF 5
 
  • The Giants tallied 5 runs in the 3rd & 4th innings & followed with 7 runs in both the 5th & 6th frames.
  • Derrick Cancel (Orlando, FLA.) finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored & 4 RBI.
  • Easley De La Cruz (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) went 2-for-3 with 4 runs, 1 RBI & 2 walks while Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) tallied 3 RBI.
  • Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) drove in 2 runs & scored twice.
  • 12 different Giants drove in at least 1 run.
  • 6 pitchers appeared for Keystone, as Carlos Benoit (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned the victory, tossing 2 innings and striking out 2.
 
Game Two: Keystone 30, UVF 1
 
  • Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) hit for the cycle, going 4-for-4 with 6 RBI and 5 runs scored. Carlini tripled in the 1st, singled & homered in the 3rd and capped off the cycle with a double in the 5th.
  • 7 players finished with at least 2 hits for Keystone.
  • Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic) went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI & 3 runs and Luis Francisco (Laceyville, PA.) went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.
  • Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) & Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) combined 4-for-6 with 3 RBI & 8 runs scored.
  • Evan Fallwell (Tucson, ARIZ. ) & Seth Brizel (Tamarac, Fla./J.P. Taravella) combined for 4 hits and 6 RBI.
  • 7 pitchers threw for the Giants, as Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J.) earned the win. Keystone struck out 9 Patriots.
