Walk-Off Triple Lifts Softball to Split With Wilson

La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team battled with Wilson College on Friday and earned a split in a CSAC doubleheader, including a walk-off triple by Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) in game two to send the Giants to a 5-4 victory.
 
  • The Giants are now 12-4 (12-2 CSAC) and will head to Clarks Summit University tomorrow at 1 pm.
  • The Phoenix are 15-3 (10-2 CSAC) and host Cairn University tomorrow at 12 pm.
 
Game One: Wilson 3, Keystone 1
 
  • KC finished with just 2 hits, including a lead-off solo homer to left field by Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy).
  • Wilson tallied 2 runs in the 2nd and another in the 3rd.
  • Mokychic collected a base knock.
  • Hannah Dickson (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) earned the start & suffered the loss, tossing 3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs while forcing 2 flyouts & 6 groundouts.
  • Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) threw 4 innings in relief, allowing no runs while forcing 5 flyouts & 6 groundouts.
 
Game Two: Keystone 5, Wilson 4
 
  • Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th, Mokychic came through in the clutch with the game-winning 2-run triple to right field to score Alyssa Both & Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll).
  • Lloyd leaped over the outstretched glove of Wilson's catcher to tally the game-winning run.
  • Wilson jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd before Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) notched a run-scoring sac fly to get the Giants on the board, 2-1.
  • Johnson ripped her 2nd homer of the day to tie the game up at 2-2 in the 3rd.
  • Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) enjoyed an RBI double in the 5th.
  • Johnson finished 3-for-4 while Frye went 2-for-3.
  • KC finished with 10 hits.
  • Marlena Pegula (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) went the distance, tossing all 7 frames with 7 strikeouts, 3 flyouts & 10 groundouts – without walking a batter.
