Baseball Sweeps Centenary to Advance to CSAC Finals

La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College baseball team advanced to the CSAC Finals with their sweep of visiting Centenary University on Friday afternoon.
 
  • The No. 1 seed Giants improve to 19-4 on the season and will host either No. 2 Wilson or No. 3 Cairn next Friday-Saturday, May 14-15, in the championship best-of-three series.
  • The No. 4 seed Cyclones end the year at 7-10.
 
Game One: Keystone 7, Centenary 0
 
  • Jared Rowley (Dover, Del./Dover) pitched 8 scoreless innings, striking out 9 while allowing 8 hits.
  • The CSAC Pitcher of the Year threw 119 pitches and forced 10 flyouts & 5 groundouts.
  • Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) finished 3-for-4 with a double while Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) went 2-for-4 with a double.
  • Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) ripped a 2-run homer to left in the 3rd to give KC a 4-0 lead.
  • Derrick Cancel (Orlando, FLA.) finished 2-for-4 while Larry Sims (Winona, MISS.) tallied a 2-run double in the 4th.
  • Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman), RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) & Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) all tallied 1 RBI.
  • Decker Quintana (Ogden, Utah.) pitched the 9th the seal the win.
 
Game Two: Keystone 17, Centenary 3
 
  • The Giants exploded for a 6-run 4th and added 3 runs in the 6th, 7th, & 8th innings.
  • Hadsall went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI & 2 runs while Gouldsbury collected 3 hits & 4 RBI.
  • Cancel went 2-for-5 with 2 runs while Sims earned 2 hits.
  • Jared Davis (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) finished with 2 RBI.
  • Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned the start & the win, as the righty tossed 7 innings with 4 strikeouts, throwing 78 pitches.
  • Matt Tarabola (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) & Patrick Adamski (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) threw in relief, combining for 4 strikeouts while allowing just 1 hit.
