Softball Splits To Open CSAC Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team went 1-1 on the opening day of the 2021 CSAC Tournament on Friday, hosted by Cedar Crest College.
 
  • The No. 3 seed Giants (15-7) defeated No. 2 seed Wilson (21-4) 5-3 to open the day and dropped a 19-11 decision in 5 innings to the host No. 1 seed Falcons (18-2).
  • By going 1-1, Keystone will now face Wilson – also at 1-1 – to open up tomorrow's contests at 10 a.m. The loser of that game will be eliminated while the winner will take on Cedar Crest at 12 PM.
 
Game 1: Keystone 5, Wilson 3
 
  • The Giants tallied 2 runs in the 2nd & 3rd innings to hold on to the 5-3 opening win.
  • Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) blasted a 2-run homer to left center in the 3rd to give KC a 4-0 advantage.
  • The Phoenix tallied 2 runs in the 3rd & one more in the 7th.
  • Mokychic finished 2-for-4 with 2 RBI & 2 runs.
  • Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
  • Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) enjoyed the victory, tossing all 7 frames, collected 2 strikeouts.
  • Cienki threw 132 pitches and forced 7 flyouts & 12 groundouts.
 
Game 2: Cedar Crest 19, Keystone 11 (5 innings)
 
  • KC collected 11 runs on 12 hits, including a 5-run 4th inning.
  • The Falcons exploded for 17 runs in the 1st two innings.
  • Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) went 1-for-3 with 5 RBI, including a 3-run homer to center field in the 4th.
  • Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) finished 2-for-3 with 3 runs while Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) & Frye went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI, 1 run & 1 double apiece.
  • Erin Dunn (Harveys Lake, Pa./Tunkhannock) enjoyed a 2-for-3 outing with 3 runs while Mokychic drove in 2 runs.
  • Hannah Dickson (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett), Madolyn Fernandes (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) & Kylee Kerstetter (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) all pitched for the Giants.
