Strong Second Half Leads Keystone Past Goucher

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College field hockey team enjoyed a 4-1 win over visiting Goucher College Tuesday evening at the Keystone College Turf Field. 

Standout Performers

- Cece Burke (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) got the scoring started for the Giants as she scored her first collegiate goal nine minutes into the game. 
- Following a strong defensive battle from both teams in the second and most of the third quarter, Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) would provide a buzzer beating goal for the Giants to end the third quarter. 
- Keystone would add two fourth quarter goals as Courtney Dwyer (Scranton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) and Julianna Santiago (Allentown, PA./Louis E. Dieruff) found the back of the net for the Giants. 
- Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) and Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Aregentina/San Vicente de Paul) each provided one assist in tonight's matchup. 
- Sophomore goalkeepers Casey Stratton (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) both recorded one save. 

Inside the Box Score

The Giants recorded eight shots which four of those shots were on goal. The Gophers recorded four shots in the game where three of those shots were on goal. Keystone also had the advantage on corners, 7-5.  Tomada had a team leading three shots in the win. For the away team, Emily Postlethwait had a game leading three shots in the defeat. Goucher's Maria Campbell scored the lone goal for the Gophers. The Gophers were issued one green card while Keystone was issued a yellow card. 

What's Next

The Giants improve to 2-1 with the victory tonight. They will return to action on Friday, Sept. 10 as they take Eastern Mennonite University at 7 p.m.
