Field Hockey Falls to Gwynedd Mercy

La PLUME, Pa. - The Keystone College field hockey team suffered a 3-1 setback to visiting Gwynedd Mercy University in non-conference action on Homecoming Saturday.

Keystone drops to 5-5 overall as the Giants play at Stevens (5-5) on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m.

Gwynedd Mercy improves to 4-5 overall host St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in their Play 4 the Cure game.

Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) tallied her sixth goal of the year in the 36th minute, thanks to a feed from Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) to knot the contest at 1-1 in the third quarter.

However, GMU tallied two goals in the 51st and 53rd minutes to take a commanding 3-1 lead.

Three different Griffins scored as Amber Sims, Kaci Murray and Cheyenne Avellino found the back of the cage.

Keystone tallied four shots on the night, with Mainero leading the way with two.

Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) was charged with the defeat, making seven stops.
