Field Hockey Falls in Overtime to Ramapo

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College field hockey team suffered a heart breaking 3-2 overtime defeat to Ramapo College Wednesday evening at the Keystone College Turf Field. With the loss, Keystone falls to 7-6 with Ramapo improving to 9-3.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Courtney Dwyer (Scranton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) found Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) for her ninth goal of the season. Ramapo later tied it up with a goal from Allison Tanasy with an assist by Emily Ricciardi. Ramapo retook the lead early in the third quarter as Ricciardi found the back of the cage off an assist from Katie Yarussi. With two minutes remaining in regulation, Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) scored her second goal of the match to tie the game and send it to overtime. Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) had the assist. In the overtime period, Maggie Farrell scored the game winning goal to give the Roadrunners the win.

Casey Stratton (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) both appeared in goal with Stratton getting eight saves. Karley Cresswell (Lake Winola, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) tallied a defensive save in the contest. The Roadrunners outshot the Giants 22-8. They also had a 13-4 advantage on penalty corners.

Keystone will return home for an afternoon CSAC match against Notre Dame of Maryland on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. Ramapo will resume NJAC play as they travel to Stockton University on the same day at 12 p.m.
