ROSEMONT, Pa. - Two second half goals by Rosemont College were the difference in Saturday's CSAC men's soccer match, as visiting Keystone College fell to the host Ravens 3-2.
With the defeat, the Giants are now 4-8-1 (1-1-1 CSAC) and will return home to host Valley Forge on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. The Ravens improve to 6-2-3 (3-0-0) CSAC and head to Bryn Athyn on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Rosemont currently sits atop the CSAC table while Keystone is in fourth place.
The Ravens outshot Keystone 24-4 on the night but the Giants did score on half of their scoring opportunities. Rosemont opened up the scoring in the 17th minute but Keystone wasted little time finding the equalizer, as Leo Arrieta (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian) netted a goal off a feed from Mathias Trujillo (Marathon, Fla./Marathon).
Following halftime, Arrieta was not done, enjoying his second tally of the night to give Keystone a 2-1 edge in the 53rd minute. Almost 20 minutes later, the Ravens netted the equalizer in the 72nd minute.
With regulation winding down, Rosemont scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute to hand Keystone the tough conference defeat.
Arrieta scored on both his shots while Daniel Cook (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda/GED Certificate) and Axel Gonzalez (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) provided one shot each. Erick Gomez (New Orleans, La./John Ehret) made five saves in the defeat.
