DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead, the Keystone College volleyball team couldn't close out the match, falling 3-2 to host Delaware Valley University in the final non-conference contest of the season on Monday night.
With the defeat, Keystone drops to 8-12 and travels to Rosemont College (7-10, 4-1 CSAC) in a huge league match at 7 p.m. Currently, Rosemont is tied for second place at 4-1 while Keystone is tied for fifth place with Wilson.
Delaware Valley improves to 10-8 and hosts Arcadia University on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
Keystone won the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-23. The Aggies bounced back and claimed the next two with identical 25-21 scores. Del Val closed out the Giants in the fifth, 15-3.
The Giants came out on fire in the opening set, hitting .278 with 14 kills. However, they cooled off during the duration of the match, finishing the night hitting .120.
Adrianna Derrick (Oklahoma City, Okla./Putnam City) finished with a team-high 14 kills and chipped in six digs. Rebecca Jackson (Quakertown, Pa./Salem Christian School) floored 11 kills and tallied eight digs. Hannah Ankerbrand-Ochoa filled the stat line with 27 assists, 18 digs and seven kills.
Elise Burk (Paw Paw, Mich./Paw Paw) enjoyed seven kills while Sage Superko, Jasmine Adorno (Port Orange, Fla./Atlantic), and Devany Obin (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) combined for seven executions. Hailey Herneisey (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area), Kaylee Sargent (Tioga, Pa./Williamson), and Karielys Gonzalez Ramirez (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) combined for 37 digs.
For Del Val, Olivia Deffendall floored a match-best 19 kills. Gretta Schneider and Grace Kane tallied 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
