La PLUME, Pa. - The Keystone College field hockey team enjoyed a 9-0 shutout win over visiting Lancaster Bible College on Saturday afternoon in CSAC action on Senior Day.
With the win, the Giants improve to 9-8 (5-1 CSAC) and earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CSAC playoffs. The Chargers end their year at 3-13 (1-4 CSAC).
Keystone will now host No. 3 seed Cedar Crest in the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m.
Prior to Saturday's contest, the Giants honored their five senior members: Courtney Dwyer (Scranton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West), Karley Cresswell (Lake Winola, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), Mercedes Goodwin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale), and Summer Price (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro).
Keystone notched two goals in the first and second quarters, claiming a 4-0 halftime lead. The Giants tacked on five second-half tallies, including three in the third.
The Giants outshot LBC 44-4 on the day and held a 16-4 edge in penalty corners.
Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) tallied four goals on 11 shots, tallying goals in the 9th, 27th, 41st and 52nd minutes. Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) provided two scores while Julianna Santiago (Allentown, Pa./Louis E. Dieruff) and Maria Belen Rodriguez Molina both had one each.
Jordan Vandermark (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) dished out three assists while Mainero and Mascia each had two helpers.
