LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College men's soccer team tied with St. Elizabeth University 2-2 Saturday afternoon at the Keystone College Turf Field in their final regular season match. With the tie, Keystone ends the regular season 7-8-2 (4-1-2 CSAC). St. Elizabeth goes to 10-4-3 (4-1-2 CSAC).
Prior to the start of today's match, the men's soccer team honored their three seniors: Erick Gomez (New Orleans, La./John Ehret), Ethan Heller (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia), and Collin Cowles (Rome, Pa./Northeast Bradford).
St. Elizabeth jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half as Jacob Flores scored in the 32nd minute from an assist from Kevin Vasquez. Marvin Miranda scored in the 41st minute with an assist credited to Cody Ikner. The Giants were able to cut the deficit to one as Matthew Macedo (Pound Ridge, N.Y./John Jay) provided his first collegaite goal in the 65th minute off a pass from Axel Gonzalez (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards). Mathias Trujillo (Marathon, Fla./Marathon) found Gonzalez for the equalizer in the 79th minute to tie the match. Gomez made eight saves in goal.
The Eagles outshot the Giants, 21-14. They also had a 4-3 advantage on corner kicks. Five yellow cards were given during the match.
Keystone will now prepare for the CSAC Tournament beginning next week with a time, date, and opponent to be announced.
