LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College women's basketball team opened their 2022-23 season with a 76-52 loss to visiting Wilkes University Tuesday evening in the Gambal Athletic Center. With the loss, Keystone drops to 0-1 with Wilkes improving to 1-0.
Riley Berry led Keystone with 17 points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Kwashanti Holmes almost had a double-double in the contest as she had 10 points with eight rebounds. Holmes and Renata Alberici (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) combined for 16 rebounds.
For Wilkes, two Colonels finished with double digit points. Yamrielis Matos finished with 23 points, six rebounds, and six assists off the bench. Brianna Horton scored 18 points in the game with all of her points coming from behind the arc.
Both the Giants and Colonels had 38 rebounds on the night. There were a combined 50 fouls called.
The Giants will hit the road this weekend as they compete in the SUNY Oswego Tournament. The Giants will take on the host Lakers on Nov. 11 at 7:30 P.M. Wilkes will prepare for their home opener as they take on Gwynedd Mercy on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.
