Fallwell & Gouldsbury launched homers to pace Keystone.

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Keystone College baseball team dropped a 13-4 decision at No. 18 Shenandoah University in the opening game of the Mr. V Memorial Classic on Friday afternoon.

The Giants fall to 1-3 while the Hornets improve to 9-1 and are on a seven-game winning streak. Keystone will face SUNY Oswego (1-2) at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

Shenandoah tacked on three runs in the first and followed with three in the fourth and four in the sixth. The Hornets outhit Keystone 15-11 and took advantage of five errors by the Giants, scoring three unearned runs.

Trailing 11-0 in the seventh, Keystone ruined the shutout bid by tallying a pair of runs in the seventh and eighth frames. Evan Fallwell (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) launched a pinch-hit two-run blast to left field to score Jason Thomas (Miami, Fla./Barbara Goleman). RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) followed with a two-run shot of his own in the eighth, scoring Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township)

Gouldsbury finished the day 2-for-4 and is currently hitting .429 on the young season.

Derrick Cancel (Orlando, Fla./Chancery Charter) enjoyed a 2-for-2 day while JD Barrett (Moosic, Pa./Dallas) went 2-for-4 with a walk. Thomas, Montone, and Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic) all collected base knocks.

Patrick Adamski (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) suffered the defeat, tossing four frames while striking out one. The righty earned the start and threw 73 pitches, forcing seven groundouts and four flyouts.

Brandon Reining (Orlando, Fla./Boone) and Ross Zanghi (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) threw the final four innings in relief, with Zanghi punching out three Hornets.
