Softball Sweeps Valley Forge on Monday

The Giants improve to 10-6 (4-0 CSAC).

La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team enjoyed a doubleheader sweep of visiting University of Valley Forge on Monday, defeating the Patriots 17-1 in game one followed by a 6-1 victory in game two at Edmunds Field.

With the wins, the Giants improve to 10-6 (4-0 CSAC) and will travel to Notre Dame of Maryland (4-8, 1-3 CSAC) on Wednesday, April 13 at 3 p.m. The Patriots fall to 4-6 (0-2 CSAC) and will host St. Elizabeth University (5-5, 2-2 CSAC) on Wednesday.

Game One: Keystone 17, UVF 1 (5 innings)

Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) enjoyed her second no-hitter of the season as the Giants tallied an 11-run third to run away in the opener.

Cienki struck out 10 Patriots and forced two flyouts and one groundout, tossing 83 pitches. The righty walked four and hit one batter. At the dish, Cienki finished 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs to help her own cause.

Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs while Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) and Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) each drove in two runs.

Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) went 2-for-3 and Hanaje Riley (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) enjoyed a two-run double in the third.

Game Two: Keystone 6, UVF 1

Keystone outhit the Patriots 11-6 in the nightcap as Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) and Olivero combined for five RBI.

Frye finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) and Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) combined to go 5-for-9.

Amber Stansfield (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) earned the win, tossing all seven innings. The righty threw 93 pitches and tallied four strikeouts, nine groundouts, and six flyouts.
