Baseball Takes Two at Rosemont

The Giants outscored the Ravens 31-5 in the doubleheader.

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - The Keystone College baseball team enjoyed a doubleheader sweep at first-year program Rosemont College in CSAC action on Saturday afternoon at Heuser Park.

With the wins, the Giants improve to 8-11 (3-1 CSAC) and will head to Rutgers Camden (11-9) on Tuesday, April 5 at 6 p.m. 

The Ravens fall to 4-15 (1-5 CSAC) and will host Delaware Valley University (7-11) on Wednesday, April 6 in a twinbill starting at 3 p.m.

Game One: Keystone 15, Rosemont 4

The Giants plated four in the second and six in the seventh, outhitting the Ravens 13-7 in the opener.

JD Barrett (Moosic, Pa./Dallas) and RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) both drove in four runs each while Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) enjoyed a 2-for-3 game with three RBI and five runs scored at the leadoff spot.

Barrett tallied a pair of two-run singles while Gouldbury enjoyed a two-run triple in the seventh.

Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic), Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township), and Pedro Abreu (Bronx, N.Y./Santa Teresa) all collected one RBI each.

Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned his fourth victory of the spring, tossing seven frames with six strikeouts, eight groundouts, and five flyouts, needing 89 pitches. 

Patrick Adamski (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) appeared in relief, with Gravel punching out two Ravens.

Game Two: Keystone 16, Rosemont 1

Keystone tallied a five-run top of the first and put up crooked numbers in the fifth and eighth innings, again outhitting the Ravens 17-7 in the nightcap.

Gouldsbury had another solid outing, collecting three RBI, including a solo blast in the seventh, his fifth long ball of the season.

Acosta went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Pokorney went 2-for-5 at leadoff. Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) finished 2-for-2 with three runs scored while Wynston Dyer (Columbia, S.C./Spring Valley) went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Montone and Ryan Cosby (Buford, Ga./Mountain View) each collected two hits while Rocco DePietro (Archbald, Pa./Valley View), Pedro Betancourt (Caguas, P.R./Wilkes Barre Area), and Ryan Schubert (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) drove in one run apiece. Jason Thomas (Miami, Fla./Barbara Goleman), Devin Reed (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area), and Brendan Kucharski (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) provided base knocks.

Brayan Villar (West Orange, N.J./Belleville), Brandon Valles (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North), Braden Green (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Fort Lauderdale), Nick Termini (Clark Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), Josian Ortiz (Charlotte, N.C./Mallard Creek), and Kevin Murphy (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) all pitched, combining for seven strikeouts while allowing just seven hits.
